Veterinarian
Duties and Responsibilities: Veterinarians care for the health of animals and work to improve public health. They diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and other animals. Their duties consists of:
- Examining, diagnosing and treating animals
- Prescribe and administer animal medications
- Take cells and tissue samples and perform diagnostic tests
- Perform surgery on animals
- Research cause of disease
- Recommend treatment type to personnel
Salary: $88,490 per year. $42.54 per hour.
Education: Veterinarians must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited veterinary college and a state license.
Demand for this profession: Employment of veterinarians is projected to grow 9% from 2014 to 2024.
